A Bear Cub Grand and Great

For those of you who have followed me from the beginning, you might remember an earlier post in which I was visited by my favorite character, Winnie-the-Pooh. Well, what if I told you that we get to talk about the true story behind the famous story that is a modern biography and this year’s Caldecott winner?

As many of you probably know, I am referring to Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear by Lindsay Mattick, Illustrated by Sophie Blackall.

With art work reminiscent of Virginia Burton, this beautiful book gently and calmly leads us on a journey from Winnipeg, Manitoba to White River, Ontario, Canada to England where the real Winnie lived and met Christopher Robin Milne. Christopher Robin might have literally knocked on Winnie’s door to ask her to come out to play.

This marvelous book includes a family album filled with the history of the story. Reading it you’ll discover the meaning of the book’s title and why this true story is so special.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Next time, we’ll speak of travel and history. Until then, grab a teddy bear and give her a hug and let her hug you!
